Arles shore up defence with Lorenzi capture

French league tailenders Arles-Avignon moved to add some solidity to their porous defence on Monday by signing defender Gregory Lorenzi from Ligue 1 rivals Brest on loan till the end of the season.

The 27-year-old - who has only played three times for Brest this season - is due to sign his contract on Tuesday and will be reunited with coach Faruk Hadzibegic, who he played under at Bastia.

Arles-Avignon look set to be relegated after just one season among the elite, winning just one of their 20 matches having scored the least amount of goals, ten, and conceded the most, 40. They have just eight points and are 13 adrift of safety.
